What’s Up Wednesday {October 2016 Edition}

Hello friends! Thanks for joining me today for “What’s Up Wednesday.” I’m linking up with bloggers Shay, Mel and Sheaffer for this. Please feel free to post a “What’s Up Wednesday” of your own and link-up with us all. I would love to get to know you all!

So let’s get started…

1. What we’re eating this week…

Homemade chicken noodle soup! Cold and flu season has begun and my dad {who we’re staying with while hubby is deployed} caught it over the weekend! I tried to head it off with lots of vitamins for everyone… and chicken noodle soup helps everyone feel great. So we made that this past weekend.

2. What I’m reminiscing about…

We’ve just crossed the “1 quarter” mark of this deployment, so naturally, I’ve been thinking a lot about the my husband while he’s been away. Our last date night before he left has been a something that i’ve been thinking about a lot. We went out to Disney Springs {formerly known as Downtown Disney} for dinner and a movie, and I cannot wait for our first date night after he returns in February. The kids and I are missing him so much!

3. What I’m loving…

The new promo for “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life,” of course! We’re down to less than a month before it premieres, and I can’t wait. My daughter and I binge watched the entire series just last year, so we’re excited for the new stuff.

4. What we’ve been up to…

Parenting, parenting, blogging, parenting, fall stuff, parenting, crafting, parenting. That basically covers it! October is a busy month for us. The schools down here in Florida do first report cards and parent/teacher conferences in the middle of the month, so we did that whole thing. Costumes were bought {Haley is going to be a “nerd”…specifically for the cool glasses and Landyn is Superman} and our jack-o-lanterns will be carved some time this week. I’ve also been spending my evenings and the baby’s nap time prepping and scheduling blog posts. I’m determined to build this thing, and to continue to build it. I just have to do that while the kids are asleep.

5. What I’m dreading…

Trick or treating with a one-year-old. Landyn is a climber… and now he’s a runner. He hates being held for long and he hates being in his stroller unless he’s going fast. He’s a wild man! Haley, on the other hand, loves to walk at a slow, leisurely pace. She loves to stop and talk to people. She loves to try to conquer the entire neighborhood each Halloween, as most kids do. I’ve got a feeling that Landyn isn’t going to like any of those things this year. It may make for a crazy evening… or I may end up pleasantly surprised. We shall see.

6. What I’m working on…

Re-releasing, rebranding and building up my blog. I’m also crocheting scarves in preparation for our inevitable move to a colder state, and I’m slowly creating some wreaths and DIY decorations for our family’s next home. Haley has been helping me with it, which has been a great way of building up excitement for the move rather than trepidation about leaving.

7. What I’m excited about…

All of the holidays that are quickly approaching. The holidays are always my favorite time of year, and though it’s going to be bittersweet and difficult with Matt being away, I know that this is just a short season in our lives and I’m determined to make it a good one for all of us.

8. What I’m watching/reading…

I actually just finished binge watching “Breaking Bad” and then “Shameless” on Netflix, so I’m in need of a new show to throw some of my spare time into. Any suggestions?

As far as reading goes, I bought the new “Harry Potter” book and the first book from the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series months ago. I need to start on them soon.

9. What I’m listening to…

Kip Moore’s “Hey Pretty Girl” has been on repeat in my house all month. It was the first song Matt and I danced to as husband and wife, and October is our anniversary month so I’ve been listening to it a lot!

Other than that, the “Today’s Hits” station on Pandora is always playing in the background.

10. What I’m wearing…

I’ve got to be honest guys… yoga pants or leggings and tank tops or loose long sleeved shirts have kind of been my go-to recently. Parenting is exhausting, y’all. Dressing up is reserved for special occasions and days when I’m just really in the mood to look cute lately. #RealTalk

11. What I’m doing this weekend…

Saturday mornings are reserved for Haley’s gymnastics class. After that, we have lunch at my in-laws’ house this Saturday and Sunday is church followed by the #PeriParents pass-the-cast at 2pm EST on Periscope. There’s a new topics each week, and we take turns sharing our experience in the specified area. We talk about the good and the bad… and it’s just super real. All parents are welcome to join us for that. DM me on Twitter or comment below if you’re interested.

12. What I’m looking forward to next month…

Haley’s school choir is putting on a concert on the morning of Veterans’ Day, so I’m excited to see that. Also, Thanksgiving!

13. What else is new…

While the kids and I are staying at my parent’ house, I’m helping my mom tackle all of the cleaning and organizing that needs to be done in each room. She’s been wanting to get a lot of things in order for a long time, so I’ve volunteered to help her out with that. Maybe look for a blog post or two about it in the future?

That’s it for my version of “What’s Up Wednesday.” Let me know in the comments if you’ve posted one of your own. I’ll check it out!
